Guess what we're getting?

Guess what we're getting??? That's right. This barbeque is ours in May. We have to wait for our tax return but Matt got some money for his birthday as well as some gift certificates to Canadian Tire and this is what we are buying. Ours broke down after a really great 5 years so it's time for a new one. Plus, we used it at least 4-5 times a week every week last summer so we'll need to have one before it gets too hot. We are very excited as this will be our yearly gift we get. Instead of buying each other seperate birthday, anniversary, christmas, holiday gifts, we use the money we could have spent and put it towards on big family gift. One year, we all got bikes, another year we got our digital camera. We couldn't afford one last year so this year is kind of a 2 years worth of a gift. Anyways, for those of you who live nearby, come over any time and we'll barbeque.

Oooo... I might have to take you up on the idea of a BBQ this summer! It looks awsome! Ours is about 15 years old and dying rapidly. I would love to buy a new one, but alas, no money. I love the idea of a joint gift. Often on my birthdays I say I want a giftcard because there isn't much a want/need and I would rather put money together to get something that I can't afford. This birthday I have the "digital camera" fund going. Enjoy the BBQ... as soon as this snow goes away and you can actually use it :)

good idea about the big gifts. Our problem is that we buy a big thingy FIRST, and then say "Oh, that's for Christmas, Mother's day, etc"...then we "forget" that we already got something for that holiday and get another thing...

That's a fun idea to buy gifts that way. Looks like this should last you longer than 5 years! :)
