Me Talking
At Parented Pre-school today, our question was about Technology and what we liked and disliked about it. A LOT of people said the computer. They love and both dislike it. The other ones were cell phones, and digital cameras. My feelings on cell phones are this; there is no way on this green earth that a teenager needs a cell phone. One person said they knew of grade 3 and 4's that have them! What the heck!!!! What does an 8 year old need with a cell phone? People are so dis-connected with each other now adays. It's really quite sad. I think to have a cell phone for emergencies is okay but not to carry around with you for part of a social outing or get together. They are so over-rated. Wouldn't it be easier to pick the phone up and just talk to someone? And what's with all the text messaging? It makes me think of "secret combinations". People can be so lazy! And why do people need to glitz up their cell phones? It's as ridiculous as dressing up your animals. Who do people think they are? I have a cell phone but I only got it after Tanner was born and use it 90% for emergencies. It's nice to have when we are out and don't want to get up to use the pay phone but we don't talk on it in groccery store while we're shopping, or text people when we're at the movies, or heaven forbid you should have to put your phone down to order something! It can be really frustrating when, at work, you're trying to make a sandwich and the customer is chatting on their cell phone. Sorry for interrupting your urgent phone call about getting drunk tonight because you just turned 18, but please hang up and tell me what you want on your sandwich.
Matt used to carry his cell phone to church and let me tell you, we had a discussion about it at least twice a month about it. Who carries a cell phone into church??? That's just so rude! Who's going to call you that's so important that it can't wait 3 hours? I mean, honestly. Can you even imagine a cell phone ringing in the middle of sacrament? I've heard police/fire radios but they are low and you kind of expect that if you know you have a fire or police man on call in sacrament. It's part of the job. But a cell phone?!?!
As I am sitting here typing this, I just looked down and saw that Tanner has put his Backyardigans puzzle behind the computer desk. What a funny boy! He has been so cute lately...well, with the exception of today. He was kind of a pickle at Parented Pre-School and wasn't overly coopertive. I'm not sure why, but it's been one of those afternoons with him.
I had a great chat with one of the girls at work tonight. I happened to go in to finish a shift for someone and one of the other girls, who wasn't working but drove by and saw my car, came in and we had a great chat. I really enjoy getting to know the girls I work with and what they think about certain things. It makes me think back on my days at that age and the experiences I had and what I wish I had known. I love, mostly, talking about the gospel (of the 16 girls that work there, only 3 are not members) and sharing my testimony and the things that I've learned.
Well, I think that's it for tonight. I'm going to try to go to bed.

Just a few comments
I wanted to get these written down before I forgot. Tanner left one of his precious Cars in my Aunt's vehicle last week when we went into Lethbridge with her and we went over last night for an early birthday dinner for her and when we got there he said "Mommy, can you do something for me" and I replied "what do you need" and he then told me "I need to you to tell Aunty Elaine to open her door to her garage so I can get my car".
Then today, he was informing me that he has Speech at school today (as if I didn't already know) and I said "you have speech with Reegan today?" and he said yep. Then I reminded him that he also has speech up in Calgary next week and he said "I like Allison the best because she plays games with me".
For lunch we had soup and he asked if it was still hot and I said I didn't know. Then he says "I better stick my finger in and check".
He was playing on the snow banks while walking home the other day and I said "be careful Tanner, I don't want you to fall" and he said "you always say that to me"
On another note, I ran for 21 1/2 minutes straight this morning. I was really really tired and thought I'd just run for 10 minutes and be done but then I was on the treadmill and thought "this is easy. If you can run 10 minutes twice with only a 1 minute walking break, you can run the entire 20 minutes...no problem". So I just did it. It made me feel really successful and like I accomplished something. I have also decided to keep my mouth shut for a while when conversing with other people because I feel lately like every time I open my mouth, I say the wrong things or I stick my foot in my mouth or people look at me like I'm stupid. So I'm going to "talk" on the computer and not verbally when I have something to say. Well, that's it for now.

What have we been up to lately?
Let's see...what have we been up to????
Me-Running for 10 minutes at a time this week, making cookies, working, playing really intense games of hide and seek with Tanner, starting to read my book "Eat, Pray, Love", doing 8 loads of laundry (more than usual), going to FHE at Suzanne's house, making a Sunday Activity box for Tanner (it's going to be amazing), cutting and pasting things to put in the Sunday box, and sleeping when I can...lol.
Matt-working, playing with Tanner while I'm at work, making pancakes, and looking for a job
Tanner- school, playing with friends, skating on the ice on the sidewalks and edge of the roads, throwing snowballs at Mommy, having 2 baths in one day, playing with his Cars and toys, getting himself dressed, watching the sword in the stone, practicing printing and printing his letters, doing puzzles, climbing on the couch, getting a treat at Subway with his piggy bank money, learning to push the pedals on his bike all by himself, and eating like it was going out of style.
That's our short update for this week.

Five for Friday
Stolen from Kelly....AGAIN!!!!
1. Who's the best hugger you know? Tanner is the best hugger by far.
2. What were you doing at midnight last night? That's classified information
3. What's something you cannot wait to do? In this lifetime- get a house, In the next life-Meet the Savior and see my Dad again.
4. Have you ever donated money for a good cause? Yes, Hurricane Katrina, MADD, Cancer and I think a couple others.
5. What's the last piece of clothing you borrowed from anyone? I was walking to Sharon's to get on the treadmill and silly me, wore my crocs so my socks got wet and so when I got there, she lent me a pair of her socks to run in. Thanks Sharon!
I know you're all dying to know how my run went today. FAN-FREAKIN-TABULOUS!!!! I ran for 2 minutes after my 6 minutes last set, at 6km!!! It was really fast but it was great. So that was 6 minutes at 5.5km and then 2 minutes after that at 6km! My legs are a bit sore, but it was so worth it.
Tomorrow I am going with some friends to the movie P.S. I love you. I'm really excited to be able to go. Plus, I heard that it's a really good movie.
It's really nice out today. Tanner was able to play outside and he loved playing in the puddles. He found a stick....why do all boys love sticks????....and splashed in all the water he could find.
Well, that's about it for now. Have a great day!
P.S. SPELLCHECKER IS BACK!!!! HORRAY!

8 minutes and Pictures
Normally, I really, really detest posting pictures on my blog because I get a bit nervous of people figuring out all my information and kidnapping my child, but this one was too cute to pass up. I had a friend ask my where I hang my clothes when I dry them because I don't dry my clothes in the dryer...except my towels and underclothing. So this is where I hang my clothes to dry. I usually dry the pants on the following.
And I hang my tops on this. If it get's full, then I put Matt's work shirts in the half of the closet in the guest room that doesn't have any clothes hanging. The 2 sides extend and it lowers down so you can put it in your closet and keep it there.

Family Day
We had a great family day today. We went with my friend and her work to the movie "The Bee Movie". It was pretty cute. Then we got a few groceries and then we cleaned up the house. I also did all my laundry. I just have to wait to fold it and put it away tomorrow. I hang my clothes to dry so it take about 24 hours to dry all the way and then fold it and put it away.
The weather has been really great here. A lot of melting...which equals high potential for flooding when it gets really warm out for a long stretch. We didn't have any at our place last year but there were a few that I know that did.
I was relaxing today with Tanner and I realized that Matt had cleaned most of the house and also was getting dinner ready. I was really surprised and happy that I didn't have to do much. Matt is such a great husband and an especially great father. I'm just really grateful for him.
Anyways, not much to write about. I'm up to running for 6 minutes at a time. I know, I went from 3 last week to 6 this week. I need to get up to 20 minutes in 3 more weeks so I really have to get going. It feels amazing to run that long right now. I thought I'd be exhausted, but it actually gives me more energy. So, that's it for now.

Have you ever seen a mama, wearing her pajama's...
Today we got to go to the Temple together. Finally!!!! We haven't gone together since I think September...maybe even longer than that. Anyways, it was so nice! We got back home and I realized (after we had really good food at Pizza's and Cream, which I highly recommend) we needed a few groceries. So you know what I did????? I had already put my comfy p.j. pants on and I thought "I don't even care. I'm just going to go!" So I did it! I went to the local grocery store in my P.J. bottoms and no one even batted an eye. I think I might do this more often. Maybe, I'll NEVER get out of my P.J's. Wouldn't that be great. There's a Mom who brings her little girl to school every day in her P.J bottoms. It's not an uncommon thing here. I've worn grubby pants or sweat pants but I haven't worn pajama bottoms to "town". So that's my adventurous day today. Then I worked. Well, that's it for now.

Five for Friday
I know there's a lot of people that do thankful Thursdays or whatever but I found this on my friends Facebook note and thought I'd adopt it onto my blog.
1. Do you ever wonder if the way you see things visually aren't how other people see them?
I believe that everyone has a different perception on things. What I see, I know other's don't. So yes, I know that other's do not see things visually as I see them.
2. What kind of sounds are the most annoying? Whining, people who chew gum or food with their mouth open like a cow,
3. When walking through a store, do you shop with your hands by touching/feeling the texture of things? Uhhhh...NO!
4. If you could only smell three scents for the rest of your life, what would they be?
Fresh bread, Tanner's breath and probably laundry detergent
5. What sorts of things do you savor when eating them?
Molten Chocolate Cake from Chili's, fresh bread with butter and jam on it
Happy Friday...or Saturday for those of you reading now (it's 1am)

Holy fastness
Today has been a very very busy day! I walked Tanner to school (20 minutes...I walked a little slower than normal) and then halfway there I realized I forgot my shuffle for my daily run. So I after Tanner's at school, I walk home (~10 minutes) and get my shuffle and walk (5 minutes) to Sharon's house. Then I get on the treadmill for 22-25 minutes....depending on how much I feel like I need to push myself. So that's not all! This week I'm running 3's. Which in my world translates into running 3 minutes at a time. I walk 1 minute and then run 3 minutes x5 sets. So on my last set....wait, wait....usually I walk at 3km/h and run at 5. But today for my last set, I ran at 5.5 km/h for 5...yes, that's FIVE minutes!!!!! MAN!!! It felt so good. Anyways, then I walk back home (5 min) shower and get dressed in a record 5 minutes, walk back to Sharon's to babysit her sleeping children and then go and pick up Tanner from school. Normally I walk back to the school and then back home again but today, there was a vehicle available for me to go and pick Tanner up. Then we had a great lunch at Sharon's and then went to pre-school. After pre-school, we got home and I went to work for 3 hours and then came home, went back to Subway for supper for Valentines day and then rented some movies. So today has gone by super fast. I am really anxious for my run tomorrow. I don't know what I'm going to do to top what I did today. I just feel like I have so much determination and focus when I am on the treadmill. Like I just want to go. I love it! It feels so great. So, though I don't have anything thoughtful or meaningful to say or write about, I just wanted to share my excitement in my accomplishment, that's all.

"Subway"
Clearly my blog hasn't been visited by many people so that is why I have not updated it. I'm a little bit bored because I don't know what to write. Life is pretty boring right now. This morning as I was checking my e-mail Tanner says to me " look, it says Subway". When I turned around, he had spelt the word "subway" with his letters! What a smart kid I have. It's blizzarding here (if that's a word, I don't know) and so we are having a day inside. I didn't even know that it was a blizzard out until Matt called and said that there was no school for all the school division because of the blizzard. So, it's catch up on rest day. I am really tired this week for some strange reason. I've even been going to bed pretty quickly after work. Usually it takes me about 45 minutes to wind down, but this week it's been about 20-30 minutes and I'm out. Maybe because I'm running 4 days a week....who knows. Work is going good. They hired a new girl who starts next week. About half the girls that work there now are quitting because they are in grade 12 and graduating. So we will have a new crop of people to work with.
I have been walking tanner to and from school and it has been helping quite a bit for him not yelling and screaming and not obeying. It helps him to play better at home and works up his appetite so he doen't complain about what I offer him. He can be such a carb freak...lol
So in honor of Valentines day, here's a little valentines day something
L-love of my life, Matt and Tanner
O-outstanding friends like Jamie, Sharon, Suzanne, Erica, Trish, and Meghan who have been my closest friends and confidants for as long as I've known each of them.
V-very wonderful family who is so fun to be with...most of the time. Family who supports us and cares for us.
E-excellent friendships and friendships that are developing into more than "face" value friendships...if that makes sense. E is also for my middle name, Elaine, who I am named after and who I love very much.
There are lots of things I could put there but those are the ones that came to me at this moment of doing this.
I LOVE my life
I LOVE my friends
I LOVE my family
I LOVE that I have great people to work with
I LOVE where I live
I LOVE that I have reasonably good health. Not perfect, but pretty good.
I LOVE watching Tanner grow and learn
I LOVE teaching my Sunday Primary class
I LOVE those who are so willing to watch Tanner if I need it
I LOVE the gospel
I LOVE the Lord
I LOVE reading books and learning something new
I LOVE that my sister thinks, and says, that I'm freakishly strong
I LOVE having those perfect days where everything just falls into place and you accomplish what you wanted and your child(ren) are pretty well behaved and it just feels like the stars in your world are all aligned and things are great
I LOVE cardmaking
I LOVE when it snows. I love watching it fall. There's nothing more beautiful to me than an evergreen or spruce tree covered in snow.
I LOVE when people comment on my blog (HINT HINT!!!! There is no such thing as a dumb comment)
I LOVE reading other peoples blogs
I LOVE that I know how to cook and clean
I LOVE the experiences I have had in life and what they have taught me
I LOVE learning from other people's experiences
I LOVE dancing, singing, 'getting my groove thang' on.
I LOVE baking
I LOVE eating together as a family
I LOVE after we have family prayer, we all have a big family group hug
I LOVE when Tanner sings the Primary songs at home
I LOVE love. It's the best feeling in the world!
So Happy LOVE day! I hope it's a great one

I've started running on the treadmill. It's been going really good. I run 4 days a week. I take Tanner to and from school so that takes up a lot of time with running in between. Work has been good. My Aunt is coming this weekend for a visit. I don't have any opinions or thoughts on anything in particular. It's kind of a slow thinking week. We're just buzzing along. Nothing exciting. OH! Matt didn't get that job he had the interview for. I guess there's something better in store for him. I hope it shows up soon. Ummm...I guess that's it for now.

Mommy Tag
I know I already posted today but I found this fun little tag on another blog I check out occasionally.
Typical time of wake up: 8am on a super good day. But generally it's about 7:30ish.
How many times have you been a new mom: Once
How old were you when you became a mom (is this to personal?): 23
Favorite Kids show: Franklin, Doodlebops, Dragon Tales
Least Favorite Kids show: Calliou, Barney,
Favorite chore: probably dishes or laundry
Least favorite chore: dusting and making the beds
Meal you cook most often: usually pasta or rice...or Subway
Kids favorite meal: It changes all the time. Right now, it's Subway soup of ANY kind. Or Macaroni
5 things that make you smile when you are being a mom: When Tanner laughs, when he tells me he loves me randomly, when he gets excited for something and jumps up and down, when he runs anywhere in the house (seriously, this boy does NOT know the meaning of walking), when he calls me to the bathroom to wipe his bum (I don't know why this makes me smile, but it does)
Favorite thing your husband does with your kids: When he reads stories to T. Matt is a great story teler
Last time you went out with no kids: the last time was when I worked, but if the question refers to Matt and I...it will be this Friday when we go to the Temple.
If you could take your kids anywhere where would it be: To Calaway Park. Or to Utah.
Favorite pastime/activity with kids: Favorite past time is when Tanner's not feeling well, he gets pretty cuddly. I love that. Favorite activity is making cookies or playing in the pool.
1 thing you said you would never do when you were a mom: This one is a hard one because I don't know if I ever said that I would never do something specific when I was a Mom. Maybe have them never hit. I don't know.
If you had an afternoon to yourself what would you do? Read and go to the Chiropractor and accupuncturist. That's what I'd like to do, but honestly if I have an afternoon to myself, I do house cleaning and reading. That's more realistic. The first is a dream afternoon.
1 thing you do that your mom did & now you do: Ummm...make Tanner not play when he's sick. If we were sick, we had to lay in bed or on the couch and we were not allowed to play or get on the computer. If we were sick, we rested. I do that with Tanner. Not that he's sick like that very often. But I allow him to veg in front of the T.V. watching movies so he'll lay and rest. Otherwise, he get's up and plays.
Favorite quality of your own mom: She is the most non-judgemental person you'll ever meet. She never assumes or jumps to conclusions.
Favorite kids book: Guess how much I love you, The hungry Caterpillar, Where the wild things are....we grew up on books and now we have a lot of the same books for Tanner.
Scariest or most heartbreaking moment as a mom: Scariest thing was when they called me back way earlier than I expected when he was having his head surgery. I honestly thought he hadn't made it. At the same time the most heartbreaking thing was when his little head was so swollen and puffed that his eyelids started to turn inside out and when he was "awake" he waved his arm around to "see" if I was there. It was so sad. Another scary thing happened this summer when my Mom and Aunt were here to help me garden and he went missing. I thought he was in the front and when I went to check on him my Aunt said he was in the back. He wasn't in the back because I had just come from there. So I went in the house and called his name...no answer. Then I panicked. I knew he knew where the park is (right around the corner) and I ran over there. No Tanner. Then I started walking down the street...no Tanner. As I'm walking past the car in the driveway, the horn honks. There he was, this whole time playing in the car. I was so scared. Needless to say, we keep our doors locked and the keys where he can't reach them anymore.
Most joyful moment as a mom: When any of his Doctor's or therapists tell me he's doing well, the first time he smiled at me, the day we finally got to bring him home from the hospital. I know the question implys one, but there have and continue to be, many.
Last time your child told you they love you: All the time. I constantly tell him that I love him. In the middle of a movie, in the middle of coloring, when we're dancing, when he's in the shower with me, when he's eating, when we're walking to school, when I drop him off at school. I ALWAYS tell him I love him.
Now go tell your kids how great they are give them a big hug & kiss! I think you are all the best moms ever, and are doing a heck of a job!
I tag anyone who wants to do this. (I'd be especially interested in reading Amy, Christal, Bobbi-Jo, Adrienne, and Jamie's responses. But no pressure...lol. )

Vent Session!
I seriously, seriously need to vent at this exact moment or I am going to literally loose my mind and scream!!!!!! So here goes. Last night at work I was pulling a pan of bread out of the "cooling" bread cabinet to put in the front bread cabinet and I didn't realize that it was still piping hot because the first one I grabbed was cooled down enough to transfer. So I grabbed the piping hot one and, for what seemed like 5 minutes, kept saying oww, oww, oww, not knowing exactly what to do. So finally I dropped them on the ground (yes they got thrown out but on the positive side, they had been over cooked so we had to throw them out anyways) and just stood there. Then the shift manager said to quickly put it in cold water. So I'm standing there at the front of the store with my hand in running cold water with tears streaming down my face because it hurt SOOOO bad. Then I go to the back where she's gotten me a bowl of really really cold water and tells me to just leave my hand in there. She's had some training as a nurse so she looked at it and it wasn't blistering so it was good. So I survived the rest of my shift. Then when I was doing dishes, my fingernail got caught and bent back really far. That didn't hurt too bad. So I drive home and I'm getting out of my car and I honestly don't know how this happened but I crushed my thumb in the door as I was shutting it! It's not broken....at least I don't think it is because I can still move it but it hurts so bad. I told Matt this morning that I think I would rather be in labor than have the constant, non-stop thobbing pain of this silly hurt, blood vessel broken thumb.
Then I get to work today and one of my co-workers (NOT bosses...all my bosses are actually very nice) is SUPER SUPER grumpy! I gave her a compliment and she said "I don't need compliments". WHAT!!!!!!! Holy macrel. What the heck? I've never heard someone say that. Then the whole shift, she was so grumpy and cranky. I was actually going out of my way to be nice and be extra helpful because I thought she might be having a bad day, but the nicer I was, the crankier she got. It was so frustrating. So it has made for a very long 24 hours...not even 24 hours. More like 18 hours. I really really am looking forward to my run on the treadmill tomorrow. I am going to run all this negative energy out and have a great workout. Speaking of which...I didn't realize just how much of a difference it makes to have really great workout music. It makes for a much better and nicer workout. So needless to say, I actually might run a little harder tomorrow. I am just so riled (spelling???) up about all the stuff that has been going on these last 24 hours. AND, I've been trying to find this place to get an intervention record check for a volunteer position I have at the ACH and I CAN NOT for the life of me find where it is. Everyone keeps directing me to places that it isn't and saying "it's in the tower". What is the address of "the tower"???? Apparently, nobody knows the address, just where it's by. I feel like I'm on a wild goose chase. Ahhhh.... tomorrow will be a much better day.
Anyways, that is my venting session. I'm done. I work again tonight but with different people so it should be fine. I genuinely really like the girls I work with, so it makes for a great work environment. Maybe we have too much fun...lol. No, we all work pretty good together.
Matt has an interview tomorrow so I'm hoping that goes well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and my prayers said.
Well, I think that's it for now.
