Thanks Sharon for pointing out that it has been 5 days since my last post. Yes, I'm at Susanne's...just finished watching ANTM. It was fantastic. We are pretty good at predicting who will be in the bottom 2 now. Not so much who will win, but who will loose...lol.
We had an awesome enrichment tonight. We had a service auction. I LOVE LOVE LOVE service auctions. I think they are so much fun...plus it's nice to see what people donate. We had some really great services. We used play money...not real money like we did in Calgary to actually buy things to donate to a specific fund. I like both ways.
Life has been pretty steady around our house this week. Tanner is still loving school and I am going to volunteer tomorrow for the first time. I'm kind of excited. Then on Friday we are going to the Temple. On Saturday is the Women's General R.S. broadcast so that should be good.
This year we have to go to the church for conference because last year we listened to it online. Since we have no access this year, we'll have to do it at the church.
Anyways, that's about all for now.

Getting Better

So only 6 days since my last post...lol. Maybe next post will be 5 days from now. Let's see...what's been happening???? We are in Calgary right now and we are helping my Mom and the church up here do the annual food drive for the Salvation Army. Last year they got $750,000 worth of food and this year they are hoping to make the Guinness book of records and get $1,000,000 worth of food. What a great thing to be part of.

Tanner did really well in his speech. His SLP (speech language pathologist) was very impressed with him. Mostly because he has a cold and so his 's' sounds (which are hard for him to come naturally but he can do it if he slows down and controls himself) are perfect because they are not nasally. Hopefully he'll get it soon. We've been working on them for a really long time.

Tanner's quilt is almost done. I just have to quilt it now. I had to trim it and pin and sew the filling in it and that took some time. I also made my sister a quilt for her baby. It's just a double sided flannel blanket but she didn't have any and I didn't want her to not have at least one for as soon as the baby is born. It's big enough for her to swaddle the baby or use it as a crib blanket. I'll post pictures hopefully in the next post.

I also did more canning! I canned strawberry rhubarb jam. It was really easy. I am also making rhubarb pies and apple pies with my aunt. I'm doing that the last week in September. I hope that next year I can do some tomatoes and applesauce. Plus the pears, peaches, and jams. When I first thought about canning, I thought it was so hard but when I did it, it wasn't that hard at all and in reality, it's quite easy. Especially if you have a friend or 2 or 3 to do it with. It goes much faster with more people. Plus if you start small, it doesn't seem overwhelming. I only ordered 1 case each of pears and peaches and it was perfect. If I ordered more than 1 of each, I think I might have felt a bit overwhelmed. I'm glad I started small and next year, I'll go bigger.

My sister is coming to get her bassinet and baby clothes tomorrow (at my Mom's). I'm excited for her to finally have them and to be able to give them to her. We all made guesses at when she's going to have her baby and what it's going to be. Tanner said it's a girl. When I asked him if someone told him that he said that Heavenly Father told him. So who knows...we'll see. I guessed a girl too. Only Dean, Megan and my Aunt Carolyn think it's a boy. There's benefits to both. If they have a boy, they have TONS AND TONS of boy things that I can pass down to them. If it's a girl, she'll be just as spoiled as Tanner was when he was first born. I hope they have a girl because I think Megan needs to have a baby that is spoiled like Tanner was and still is. I don't know...is that vain of me? I just don't want her to feel like her baby isn't as special or spoiled as Tanner is. But I'm sure that if she has a boy, it will be spoiled in other ways that Tanner wasn't. I'm just really excited for my sister and her husband to have a baby and to be an Aunt in my family. I can hardly wait!

9 days!

I can't even believe that I haven't blogged for so long! So much has happened and I can't even remember it all...lol. First, I have underestimated my own husband. They had a father son camp out last night and I packed Tanner an ridiculously enormous amount of clothes because I was so worried that he would be cold. Guess what I forgot though???? His rain coat. And guess what happened last night while they were camping???? It rained! So when Matt and Tanner got home, I saw his raincoat and asked if I had mindlessly packed it. Matt said he had packed it! What a great husband I have!!!! AMAZING! I could barely sleep because I was so worried that he would be wet and cold. But my wonderful, amazing husband packed it!!!!! I love him so much!

Second, I lost my job. Not much love is lost...lol. I'm happy but sad at the same time. Happy that I don't have to deal with that high high drama but sad that we won't have the extra money. We'll be okay but it will have to be more careful with our money. It was nice that we were able to have the money for a while because I was able to get the material for Tanner's blanket without feeling like we would have to live on pasta for a while. It's fine. I'm fine. Christmas is coming and so is my birthday...my surprise one.....hint hint!!!! lol.

Tanner started pre-school on Wednesday. He adores it. When I went to pick him up on the second day he said to me "I had a great first day at school". It's so great to have a routine in the morning and actually be able to be highly productive in getting things done around the house.

I also was able to can peaches and pears. It was great. I am so grateful for being able to can and have a wonderful lady teach me how to do it. I thought it would be much harder than it really was. It is time consuming but so worth it! Then last night while Matt and Tanner were gone, I made 9 1/2 quarts of raspberry jam. I LOVE LOVE LOVE raspberry jam. Last year I only made half that so I am ecstatic about this years results.

We are heading up to Calgary this week and I'll finish my quilt at my Aunts. I'm excited to be going up and finish the quilt. I also made a quilt for my sister so I'm going to finish that too. My sister's pelvis is separating so we are praying for her and hoping that her discomfort doesn't last long. It's funny...well, not funny but ironic that both Tanner and my sister's baby were prayed for and fasted for even before they came here. What an amazing blessing to have the gospel and have the Lord on our side.

I made something

So I made my first quilt all by myself. Bought the fabric, cut it, ironed it, sewed it and am going to be quilting it in a couple of weeks. I don't have pictures yet but I will later. I know, I know...I have a lot of pictures to post soon. Anyways, my other quilt I made, Aunty Carolyn had the fabric and she was there to help supervise me and fix the few mistakes I made. This one, I did the shopping, and everything. I'm actually kind of proud of myself.

I noticed that I did 30 posts in August but I didn't reach my goal of posting every day. Oh well, maybe next time.

Matt and Tanner are up in Calgary, so I am over at Susanne's writing a post and having a girls movie night. So until next time....I hope you're all havnig a great day. OH OH OH...I'm canning my peaches tomorrow too! That's exciting.

I am just writing to say that I am still here. I have actually missed my blogger friends and reading my friends' blogs. Now that I am able to go to the library when Tanner is in school next week, I'll be a little more regular and blogging. Things have been going pretty well. We had such a great time in Calgary. Tanner will have to have tubes back in his ears at the end of November. It's a 2 minute...literally...surgery. He won't even have to stay overnight. YAY!!! for that. He has some fluid that is not draining out of his ears so that's why he needs them. The doctor says that they'll stay in for a few years and then they'll go from there. I'm just thankful that we caught it early and not late. I bought a case of peaches and pears and will be canning them when they come in later this week. I also ordered some food storage things from the cannery and am going to go to can those things next week. It feels so good to be able to get some food storage things and get our house in order.

Tanner has a cold right now. He wiped his face with toilet water on Saturday so at least he doesn't have e-coli or c-diff. He had c-diff before and it was terrible! I always worry when he's not well because if he doesn't eat, I worry that he'll starve or get really skinny and be Mal-nurished. That's the one thing I don't like about having a slender child. He doesn't have fat that his body can use for energy. Well, not much anyways.

Tanner goes for his orientation this week for school and next Monday he starts. I have big plans to be in a schedule...run, go home, shower, scripture study, go to the library and post on my blog and then go and pick him up from school at 11:15. If he gets picked up on the bus then I 3 hours to do all this so that will be great. Then I can focus on Tanner when he gets home.

OH! also I don't have my camera with me so I promise I will post pictures soon about the party. I went into Lethbridge to get Toilet Paper and Kleenex and when I got home Tanner and Matt were sound asleep so I am over and Susanne's house on her computer. I just wanted to make sure they stayed asleep so I just left without thinking about my camera. Anyways, I think that's it for now.
