2 more days

....until Tanner's birthday that is. I am so excited! He had a little "party" at school today. He got this super cute crown. I have picture that I'll upload another time. We're enjoying hanging out and we even watched Rudolph the Red nosed reindeer today. I love that movie. It's such a cute movie. Matt went into Lethbridge today and applied at several different jobs. He was also able to get his resume put on a disc so that he can take it to the library and e-mail it if needed, which is much more convenient.

Some not so good news, my uncle had a heart attack today. We're not really sure what it all means. We hope and pray that he makes it and that all is well.

So that's about all for today. I hope everyone is having a great day.

Something cute Tanner said

Today when we were playing doctor with Tanner he asked me what was wrong (he was the doctor) and I said that my nose hurt and that I thought it was broken. So he said "I'll go to heaven and ask Heavenly Father for a new one for you". So he comes back in the room and says "how do you get to heaven?". So I explained to him that people go to heaven when they die. So he said he would die and go to heaven and get me a new nose and come back. I then tried to calmly, without laughing at him, explain that our bodies actually heal themselves and that we don't have to die and get new things from Heavenly Father to have our broken bodies repaired. It was so cute.

My sister got to come home today from the hospital from being in there for a few days because of low hemoglobin. I can't wait to meet him and hold him and cuddle him. Megan says that he is already perfect at nursing so that's really good news.

Matt's work season ended yesterday so we are back at square one looking for a new job. I'm not too overly stressed about it. I feel like I have more faith this time and that I trust more in the Lord to provide the way. I won't lie and say I'm not nervous at all but I really don't feel stressed, so I feel like that's a good sign. So I think that's it for now. I could write more but I'm getting my hair trimmed and Tanner's shag mop is getting cut so we have to leave pretty soon. Thanks for all the congrats on my sister's new baby. We are all really really excited.

Oh, happy birthday

Happy birthday to my Mom...on the 7th. The woman that I love almost more than life itself and who I would gladly give up my life for. She is my rock for sure. She is always reassuring and comforting. She is a really great snuggler, even now as an adult, I still crawl into her bed with her when I'm there and snuggle with her. She is such a strength and so courageous for all that she had to go through when my Dad was sick and dying. She sacrificed so much. More than I think I know. She never complained. She is such an amazing person and I love her so so so much.

Just stopping by to say hi

I really would consider getting Internet back if we had more money. It's driving my crazy that I can't post more often. Well, I could but they would not be very substantial posts. I have limited time. Oh well! Things are well. WE are....I know crazy crazy....putting up our Christmas tree and decorations this Saturday. I am so excited. I'm done my shopping...well, except for my Mom's stocking stuffer and Amy's stocking stuffer and I've wrapped them. Now I have to work on my friends' gifts. I'm making them and so it will take some more time. So, that's about it for now.

Do you have time?

So much to tell and so little time...lol.

First, Tanner had this little school project they did. They all got a turn taking a little stuffed owl home for a sleepover and they had to find a fact about the owl and take it back the next day to school. Well, Tanner was the first one and he had it for 4 days because they sent it home with him on Wednesday and he didn't go back to school until the Monday. He loved that little owl, named Percy, like it was his own real pet. It was so cute. The fact that he choose was to say that Percy was a spotted owl and spotted owls are endangered because people keep cutting down their homes.

Second, Halloween. It was fantastic! Tanner was so cute. He had his school party on the Wednesday and he dressed up as a cowboy. He took his bullseye horse to school and that was a big hit. They had asked me to come and help in the class room so I did. Tanner loves when I volunteer. I like it too. Then that night our ward had it's annual pie and chili cook off. It was really good and Tanner loved the fishing game they had. He got a pack of 3 cars. The kids all got treat bags from the Primary so it was more candy for him. Then of Friday my Mom came down for Halloween and to go to the temple the next day. He was SO adorable the night of Halloween. He was a chef for that night and he was so cute...if I do say so myself, but you be the judge of that....

Thirdly, I have really been into old movies. Movies like Casablanca, Funny Face, and Paris in April. I just rented Gone with the Wind and can't wait to watch them. There is something so wonderful about the older movies. I love all the dancing and singing. Such good movies.

Fourthly, my new favorite household item is a bottle brush. It works wonders to clean my cheese grater. It takes the cheese right off. And we are big cheese eaters so we use it a lot.

And lastly, meals. I have made quite a few new meals and we are loving it. We just had this amazing chicken pot pie tonight. Last night we had this tex mex chicken casserole thing that was soooooo yummy, and last week we tried Lynn's supper in a soup can. SO EASY! I of course being a cheese lover am going to double the cheese. It calls for 4 slices, but I would for sure do more to add a little more cheese flavor.

So that's the latest tidbits on me. One cute thing that Tanner said last week was when he was laying in my bed while I was "asleep". Matt had come in the room to get dressed and he said very forcefully, but while whispering "Daddy, get out of Mommy's room right now. Mommy is sleeping. Shhhh". He is so cute and is growing like a weed.

Well, I think that's it for now. Until next time, have a great week.

Too long

We had a great Thanksgiving weekend. We actually all were happy and pleasant and Tanner was super behaved. He had 2 helpings of everything on the table. He didn't like the yams thought...totally crazy since they are smothered with marshmallows. Who doesn't love yams with marshmallows????
Sunday we went to church and I got to hog Erica's new baby girl. She's such a doll with so much hair. Then we went to Matt's Mom's house for our second dinner. WE didn't stay too long because I had choir practice. Then on Monday we had family pictures...thanks to Sarah for doing that. I will post them when I can. We got some really cute ones.
It's so weird to think that the next time I'm in Calgary, fingers and toes crossed, my sister will be a Mom! I am so hyper excited for her. I can't stop smiling when I think about it. Anyways, that's all for now. Sorry that's it's so short and spazzy. I just wanted to drop a line to everyone to say hi.

So there you have it...50 odd things about me.

clothe the naked

First off, a little story. When I know we are going to Calgary, I usually pack about 3-4 days in advance. Sometimes it's a week in advance. I know...crazy right??? Anyway, so I packed and got all our outfits together for this weekend including Sunday clothes that I don't pack, I just leave on the hanger. So last night when I was packing the car, I was so proud of myself thinking...I have everything, I haven't forgotten anything this time. WRONG!!! When we were in between Vulcan and Mossleigh I realized that I had forgotten our Church clothes at home in the front closet...(eyes rolling) so we are figuring things out as to where we will borrow clothes because we certainly don't have money to buy anything. Life...

Next, I've been tagged. I was actually tagged a long time ago, I just didn't have the time to sit down and do it so I'm doing it now.

My 3 Joys:

My family
Music
The Church

My 3 Fears:

Being alone in the dark
Losing someone I love, especially Matt and Tanner
That I will not live up to my potential

My 3 Current Obsessions:

Card making
Tanner
Gilmore Girls

My 3 Surprising Facts:

I have been wearing my contacts a lot more lately
I have already volunteered in Tanner's class twice
I just saw that my Mom has the new stampin up fall/winter 2008 catalogue and I'm a little jealous.

Mine and Matt's date night was fabulous! We are learning to dance...jive, waltz, cha cha. It's a weekly thing so I am really looking forward to it because I've always wanted to do it. Matt and I are the youngest couple there by far. How do I know??? Everyone else has all grey hair or has grown kids. It makes me happy to dance and I always wanted to learn to do that kind of stuff. I know how to jive and my family and I took line/country dance classes when my Mom was engaged but then we never got to show off our stuff. So I'm pretty stoked about doing this with Matt. Plus, it free! You can't go wrong there.

Anyways, that's all for now. Happy Thanksgiving.

Slowly going crazy!

This week has been a very steady one and one that I have no complaints about so far...other than a day and a half of feeling sick to my stomach I want to believe is due to some bad food that I ate because if I were pregnant that would literally in all sense of the word be a miracle. Anyways, I feel okay today. Maybe it's close to that time of the month...who knows. This week I had my first IPP meeting with Tanner's teachers. It went so much better than I thought AND he has a new speech therapist that I am so happy about. His teacher had nothing but really great and wonderful things to say about him and she was really happy with him and said he was such a happy, pleasant boy in class. Phew....I've done something right. His life is about to go from 10-95 in 2 weeks.

I had this great opportunity that I wasn't sure about at first. The story: There's a lady here that does musical theatre in her home. When I first heard about it, I thought for sure I'd put Tanner in it and then for some reason I decided not to. Maybe because they did music last year in school I thought they would do the same thing this year but apparently they aren't doing as much of it. So I felt kind of bummed out. Then a couple of weeks ago, Susanne told me that she was putting Shelby in it because she had talked to the lady and there were some openings. So I talked to the lady and she said that it would be fine to bring Tanner to see how he did. I brought him and she said he was fine. So then I committed to it. So that's on Thursday afternoons from 2-3.

BUT then I came to find out that they are starting swimming classes for the PUF kids on Thursday mornings. So not so bad. THEN I am told that they are putting Tanner in this play therapy group 2 times a week and guess what days that falls on????? Yep, Tuesday and Thursday. So his schedule on Thursday looks like this:

9-11:30 School...aka swimming
12:15-1:15 Play therapy group
2-3 Musical theatre class

I am seriously debating not sending him to school for swimming. I think I'll try it for the first couple of weeks and see how it goes but if it's too much for Tanner, then I'll just send him to the play group and musical group. I already talked to his teacher and she said that it would be up to me and she would be fine with whatever Matt and I choose to do. So if he doesn't go to swimming on Thursday morning then I'll do some Phonics work with him. The problem with this routine is that swimming is all year, play group is until February and music theatre is until may. So I have to eliminate one thing if required and swimming is the better choice.

Hopefully he's okay with the routine. If he misses swimming, it's fine. He loves to swim but he needs these other 2 things because they will benefit him in way more ways than swimming.

So what else have I been up to? I made pies at my Aunty Elaines on Monday. It was fun. I don't like that it's so finicky but I know with time, it will be easier. I made an apple pie and a rhubarb pie.

I also really enjoyed the Relief Society broadcast. It is so amazing to me that we are so lucky and privileged to be part of the generation that the Lord has so much faith in to be stronger and more steadfast. Not that the past generation wasn't but when Sister Beck tells us that we need to be stronger and more faithful, it is such an honor to feel like the the Lord trusts us to be obedient to what we are being asked to do. I hope that makes sense. I'm not really sure where we'll watch conference this year. Last year we listened to it over the Internet but we don't have that anymore so I'm not sure what we'll do. We can't take Tanner to the Stake Center because he just runs around. Maybe Matt and I will take turns going. It hard when General Conference comes because at home, we just listen and don't enforce Tanner to sit and listen although he did sometimes sit for 10-15 minutes and listen. But it's harder on kids for conference, I think. If Matt and I are running after him, then it's harder for us to get anything out of it. Maybe I'm a bad Mom for doing that but that's just something that I choose not to fight over with a 4 year old. We talk about the prophet and the things he's told us to do but his comprehension to sit and listen for 2 hours isn't quite there yet. Most of the time he's just in the room playing but we'll see what we end up doing this year.

Matt and I have a date this Friday. We are going dancing! Well, we are going to a class to teach us how to dance. I'm soooo excited. We are going with my Aunty Elaine and Uncle Doug so that should be fun.

So what's everyone doing for Thanksgiving??? We're going up to Calgary and having 2 dinners and then we have to head home on Sunday because I have to be back by 7 for stake choir practice. I am looking forward to singing in the stake choir for stake conference. We are singing The Lord's Prayer. It's such a beautiful song and the chorister is really great.

So I think that's all for today. Until next time...
