10 for Wednesday

I ADORE random posts. They are to my eyes what stand up comedy is to my ears. J'adore them! So I will follow suit and post a random post for right now.

1. I really dislike when people have double standards. Like if you don't want your kids to drink pop or won't let them drink it (this is JUST an example so I don't need any comments about on weather or not I give Tanner pop...I do) then don't drink pop yourself.

2. Time Out for me was like a vacation away from my real life.

3. What is up with Quinn Fabray??? She is like so mean and Rachel has actually turned into a nice person. I totally loved the big yellow dress, though.

4. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do on Monday's from 2-3. That's when my dance class was and now that it's over...well, I'm kinda sad about it.

5. Friday nights at Susanne's resumes this week!!!! YAY YAY and YAY!! I got a new cookbook at the TOFW and we are going to try some of the recipes.

6. We are garden sharing this year as we won't be able to have a garden in the new house until next year. I have already started appreciating more deeply the blessings of having a garden in your own backyard.

7. The toughest question I've had to answer in the past week is "How did Aunty Caryolyn's spirit get to heaven? and Does she sleep up there?" Tanner has an unspoken understanding of what has happened and he has been really good.

8. Tanner is doing great in his coach pitch! He hit the ball 5 times in a row (albeit they were foul balls, but the other kids struggled with hitting the ball). His catching needs some work (the other kids were pretty good at catching) but he's having fun and seems to be enjoying himself.

9. Would you rather be famous or a Royal??? I'd rather be famous because if you're a Royal, you are famous until you die. When you're famous, you can stop being famous if you stop working. And I've never heard of a famous person dying (or murdered) from the paparazzi chasing them.

10. I am hunting and on the look out for a free standing porch swing. I want a good quality one but don't want to pay more than $300 for it. Maybe that's unrealistic, but I'm hoping.

11. I need some good dance type music. Music that makes a person want to dance. Any suggestions??? I just downloaded Britney's till the world ends but I can't listen to that all day otherwise I might get bored of it real quick.

12. What are your favorite dates? I'm always interested in knowing what other people do for their dates. We've been trying to do some different things this year. Normally we love the movies but we've been bowling and going to dinner and other things where you actually have to communicate. A lot of our "dates" recently have been going into Lethbridge and getting stuff for out house or picking stuff out etc. But now that we are moving into our house soon, what will we do instead????

pictures pictures

I don't have pictures of the carpet and vinyl but those will come in the next day or two. The house is going to be a very busy bee hive on Thursday and Friday. Cabinets, counters, plumbing, stairs are all going to be done Thusday and Friday. OH! and concrete too.

The yellow really does look beautiful

The yellow paint. The carpet looks spotted but the lens was a bit dirty.

You can't really tell, but this is green.

By the way...

It's been a while. I honestly haven't felt like blogging for a while. It's been a really busy and long 2 weeks. For those of you who don't already know, my Aunt passed away last Thursday. She had been sick for about 5 years and so we knew it was coming. What a blessing it is to have the gospel and know that we will someday be together again. She will be missed dearly.

Our house is coming along nicely. I have yet to me motivated enough to post pictures. I was very nearly there last night but then decided to go to bed. But just to update you...

The outside of the house is finished. They are pouring the driveway and walk way today or tomorrow. The painting is complete. The flooring went in yesterday...it's beautiful by the way! The cupboards and counters are supposed to be here today or tomorrow. The plumbers and electrician will be here tomorrow or Thursday to finish and the stairs to the back deck and front veranda should be being built before the end of the week. Possession is supposed to be Friday so move in will begin Saturday!

I was able to attend Time Out For Women in Calgary this past weekend and what a wonderful experience it was. It was so uplifting and such a great boost to the past 2 weeks.

Anyway, that's about all the update that I have for now.

My posts will be sparce this week as I am in Calgary and spending time with family and friends. I will have LOTS of picture to post when I get back. I have a bunch of our windows and doors as they are in. Matt will be taking pictures while I'm in Calgary and he's back home.

I Clog

I was aked what kind of dancing I do. If you haven't heard of it, it's really hard for me to explain so you can read about it HERE

This is my first year Clogging and at first it was really hard because my feet did not move as fast as they should. When a routine was put together it was really hard. I knew the steps as just the steps but to combine them with other steps, my brain was totally overloaded. I took tap and ballet when I was little...around 6 or 7 and I took dance class in Jr. High. I have come to really enjoy clogging and hope that I will be able to do it next year. It's a lot of jumping around and it really is a good workout. There are 4 of us in the class and our recital is in 2 weeks. We are dancing to a song from Ice Age 3 called walk the dinosaur. We are dressing up as cave type women (think Betty and Wilma from Flinstones). I would love to do ballet but I do not have the body for that. Plus my balance is not always the best. I actually love to ballroom dance and have taken lessons twice. I love to jive and waltz. I would also love to try some more modern type dancing like hip hop or something fun like that.

Thanks for asking. I hope that feeds your curiosity a bit. Thanks so much for making a comment and asking me about my dancing. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in our house being built, I forget to talk about other things...like dancing : )

Siding...worth the wait

This is a huge post with lots of stuff.

This is when the roof was finally done!

So the Laudry room had to be moved. It is now in that open space there on the left side of the picture.

This is boring to me, but someone might find it interesting.

As I finish this post, I am working on the big reveal!!! The siding and other things. So if you want to see it, come back later.

Happiness

I haven't done a happiness post in a while. Although some things I am happy about are kind of obvious, I wanted to be a little more specific and get back to the basics.

Happiness is:

-Tanner being so thoughtful of Matt last night. We went to drop the car off at his work and when we knocked on the door he didn't come and so I said "oh well, I guess Daddy can walk home tonight". Tanner then replies "We should leave the car for Daddy and we can walk home so he doesn't have to walk home in the cold tonight". Sometimes it surprises me at how thoughtful he is and has become.

-knowing Tanner has never attempted to cut his hair. His friend cut his hair in class to add to the egg nest they were doing.

-having good jobs

-packing. The last time I packed, I was working full time and Tanner was 3. This time around it's easier because I don't have Tanner running under foot, I'm not working full time and Matt is a huge help because he is home in the day to pack on the days I'm not there.

-not being sick after eating far too many cookies yesterday.

-getting tickets to my final dance recital

-wearing my fun costume at dance class that Susanne made for me. I totally love it and it looks awesome!

-putting all my effort into my last dance class before the recital.

-cleaning out the trunk of the car

-washing, drying and folding 4 loads of laundry yesterday. I'm finally caught up and all I have left are a batch of towels today.

-rubber boots so it's easier to walk around in all the mud around our house.

-knowing my Mom and sister are coming for my dance recital

-a week long vacation in Calgary next week

-talking to Susanne on the phone

-being a mother

-being a wife

big week

So if the plans go according to schedule, this week will be a big one. The siding is already going up, the windows and doors will be there Wednesday, the deck and the veranda are being worked on, stairs in the garage into the mud room will be in and the insulation and drywall will be up inside. So yes, this is a big week if all goes according to plans.

We got our over the range microwave on Saturday. We also celebrated Matt's birthday by going to 5 guys Burgers and fries and then Cheesecake Cafe for dessert.

Then on Sunday we went over to our house and had a picnic in the house. It was really nice and we had a really great time.

So that's about all that's been going on for now.

update on stuff

First off I took Tanner to the Doctor...because I felt guilty enough even though in my gut I knew he was fine...but he IS actually fine and just has to let the bug run it's course.

We went over to the house and shop vac'd the whole upstairs and part of the downstairs. So now there's not so much dust all over. We also put the scrap wood in a pile by the door so we could take it out when it gets less mucky (we had snow and we couldn't just throw it out the door, otherwise it would have been too muddy to pick up and take to the BIG scrap wood pile.

There was a mix up on the cupboards so we had to go with another company...which is fine. We had to go into Lethbridge to meet with the guy and finalize everything so that the cupboards will be here at the beginning of May. It would be awesome if they were here by the time my Mom and sister came down! But, we'll see.

We have a fairly busy weekend. Tanner has a party and we're also supposed to be having our family fun day. And groccery shopping. Maybe we'll just go to a movie for our family fun day. We were supposed to go swimming but since Tanner is fighting a bug, he always gets sick after we go swimming. We all love to swim but then I remember that he gets a cold EVERY time and then I feel bad for him. The Doctor told me yesterday that since he had RSV when he was 12.5 months that his immune system can present asthma like qualaties until he his 10 years old. So we have a few more years until, hopefull, he stops getting colds so much. PLUS I know there's mold in the walls of our place and maybe worse so it will be interesting to see what happens when we get into the new house. I'm a semi-bad Mom and haven't been good at giving Tanner vitamins so I have started doing that every day now. I don't know if it will help, but it's worth trying right? I got him the Flintstone ones. We had those as kids and they were the best. I tried the Maleluca ones and he didn't like them very much so it was a struggle to get him to take them. I was also told to get a liquid vitamin for him so we'll try that too.

Anywho, that's what's going on in our part of the world.
